How To: Install Your Reflex V2 Spur Gear Bushing/Bearing

We already knew we had the best Spur gears in the market available for racing. These were a little tricky to install to many racers, experts and beginners alike, so when we set out to re-design our spurs we wanted to improve on our design in whichever way we could.

Fistly, we wanted to deal with the spacing issue. The best way to address this was to figure out a way to better center the spur and not worry about anything else. We also wanted to make it even lighter, in an effort to increase acceleration even further. Through testing different designs, we learned a few things on the way, the result is what the V2 Spur came out to be.

The kit comes with 2 Delrin Bushings, but it is compatible with any 4x7mm bearing available, depending on the differential you are using. The advantage of bushings is lighter weight. The advantage of ball bearings is that it lasts longer in between re-builds.

One of the bushings is 2mm, while the other is 3.3. The 2mm bushing will work most everywhere, and the 3.3mm wide one is made this wide in order to allow for it to be sanded down to the "perfect width" you may need.

The spur gear is chamfered on 1 edge, this makes it easier to install your bushing or bearing with a drop of thin super glue. Since the material is pure delrin, the CA will not penetrate the material, but will bond strong enough to hold the bushing or bearing in place until you want to remove it.

To install properly, use a flat surface to push the bearing all the way in on the spur, then run a thin layer of super glue around your bushing or bearing. Here we are using a Reflex 2.5mm wide bearing for illustration purpuses.

Now install the spur in your diff and experience the huge gains from having a true, lightweight RACING spur gear.

NOTES:

This spur works with most differentials out there, with minor, if any modifications. The guide below gives you a starting point for the proper installation of such.

PN/ATOMIC DIFFERENTIAL

-2mm Bushing or Bearing

3RACING DIFFERENTIAL

-2.5mm Bearing or Bushing shaved down to 2.7mm

QteQ Diff with Kyosho/Atomic Plates

-2.5mm Bearing or Bushing shave down to 2.75mm
