How To: Install Reflex's
Side Damper System
We decided to write a short step-by-step tutorial
in order to show you how to install our brand
new side damper system for the Mini-Z MR-02. If
built correctly we believe the side damper will
out-perform a disk damper 99.9% of the time. What
are you waiting for? Go order one!

The all new side damper system is based of
of PN Racing's great new 98/102 mm LCG motor mount.
Slight modification is needed on the upper carbon
fiber piece. You will drill a 2mm hole, 4mm back from
the original holes.
This picture illustrates how it should look.
Now take the provided 18mm screw and tighten it down
with an M2 nut.
Next, you need to install the provided lock nut on
the screw. Notice the distance measured is from the
plate, to the top of the lock nut.
To get a little extra clearance, you must clip off
the front right screw hole on the carbon fiber plate.
Notice how we don't cut the whole thing off though.
You can now install the carbon fiber plate with the
two rear screws.
Next, take the upper brace for the damper system
and install the screw for the top shock.
Install the top shock on the brace, using an M2 nut
once again. Don't be afraid to crank it down.
| You can now install the brace and the top shock on the
chassis. |
For the next step, screw in the brass ball end towards
the back of the slot. The piece is designed to be used
without a nut (due to clearance issues with a Pan Car
body), so it should be self-threading. If you want,
you can always use a 2.5mm nut on the back of it.
Once you have lubed up your side shock, prepare to
install it on the car. You will use the 2 washers provided
with the kit underneath the screw-in ball end on the
motor mount.
For high grip tracks, we suggest to start with
15000 wt, (what is provided on the shock) bumpy tracks
and lower grip, something in the 5000-7000 wt should
be adequate for a starting point.
Pop the ball end on the right side of the car and
voila! You now have a Reflex Racing side damper set-up
on your car! Feel how smooth the suspension is!
Another view shows how simple and clutterless this
set-up is.
For a Pan Car Set-up, we cut the top shock rear screw
a bit in order to get better clearance. Notice how we
also cut the brass ball end threads flush with the suspension
brace.
Looks good huh? Quit drooling and go smoke everyone,
that way we can sell more damper tube set-ups. ;)
